We’ve Been There
“There’s got to be a better way.”
Jason was on site in Sydney, slowly and laboriously filling sandbags by hand to square away a trenching job till the following day. Jason and his crew had been laying conduit all night and were now filling sandbags manually to shore up the trench for backfill before knocking off for the night.
Jason’s frustration at the slow, backbreaking work and inefficient use of resources led him to a lightbulb moment:
“What if there was a business that supplied pre-filled sandbags, that was nimble and responsive enough to respond to urgent site needs, that could deliver next day or better?”
Every Sydney Sandbags Customer is a VIP
Jason immediately registered Sydney Sandbags – named after his son Sydney – and within 24 hours he had his first order for a customer that needed 100 sandbags… that same night!
He had a proven concept, but could he deliver on his promise?
A mad scramble ensued with Jason and his wife Johanna filling sandbags by hand to deliver directly to site that night. The customer was happy and many more followed, with Jason and Johanna filling the first 8,000 sandbags manually, before deciding to commit to automate the business with more efficient equipment
